Houston Museum of Natural Science

Sunday afternoon we headed to a day of enlightenment at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. I had chosen this place because I remember on one of my trips to Texas we had gone through the huge butterfly center. I loved having such beautiful butterflies flying all around me, and I wanted to share that with Liv since she loves butterflies too. Of course, my wussy daughter was clinging to me the whole time. But still I was loving it, especially cause it was such a photo opportunity! I wish I didn't have kids clinging to me so I could've spent a lot more time focused on some great shots. Gary was a lot of fun! He loved running around and looking at all the exhibits! He loved when he was able to push buttons that would do some sort of demonstration. And he loved the "big red ball"... I have absolutely no idea what it was demonstrating, except that it was in the energy section, but he thought it was SO COOL!

Go Astros!

This was a nice treat... Shannon's boss gave us girls tickets to the Astros game last Friday! They were absolutely fabulous seats! It was a great opportunity for me to play with my camera, so I ended up taking more then enough pictures! It was such a blast, up until the THIRTEENTH inning when we got real bored & finally decided to leave. Four hours of baseball is just too much. They ended up loosing to the Pirates in the fourteenth inning anyways... 8-3. I'm glad we left cause it would've been real disappointing to watch the Pirates score 5 runs in one inning after all that, ya know!

Day at the Spa

Hey friends! I feel like such a woman... my sweet cousin, Jessica, and I headed out for a day of pampering! We started with pedicures and manicures. Soooo relaxing! Then we had our hair done. I got all brave and decided it was time to give hair color another try cause I needed to make myself over. I really liked my hair dresser cause I was able to tell her what I like & she worked her magic so that the change is subtle yet gorgeous! I'm so happy!!! I am definitely going to have to do this type of stuff more often since it made me feel like such a woman & I love feeling so relaxed and pretty! Tonight we're headed to an Astros game... dugout seats, so excited! Baseball is a boring game to watch but I'll seats that close to the action anytime! Did I mention I'm LOVING Texas?? Maybe you could tell ;) Oh & I have to share this story... that shirt Jess is wearing is one I bought yesterday. I got a taste of what it would've been like to have a sister: when we got home we were showing my aunt what we bought. I pulled this one out & Jess says "I'm wearing that one tomorrow!" That was a different experience for me so I busted up laughing! Good times!

Princess Party

I'm finally getting around to making a post about this fabulous vacation... it's been a whirlwind of activity, crazy fun type stuff. Saturday my little cousin, Alexis, turned four years old... Little Miss Snow White there. So we had a princess party for her while the cousins were all gathered together! They were such gorgeous little princesses. My aunt put on a great party with a beautiful castle cake, lots of fun party favors, and great princess games! The pinata was a big hit (don't mind the pun ;)) as always, but, as you'll see, it took the boys to step in to get it broke open. I was very happy with the bonding that went on between the girls... their personalities meshed well and they all clicked as friends! Anyways, good stuff!

An Itch Scratched

It's been a crazy week, but I'm finally getting around to telling you about the exciting weekend we had last Saturday... We headed to Toquerville (southern Utah) to visit with Todd's family. The weather was just right for a boat outing so we snatched up the opportunity! I was especially excited since I missed the annual Lake Powell trip in June I've been aching to get a good ski run in. It's been too long especially since I was pregnant the last couple chances I had to go to the lake. Anyways, it wasn't the best run, but the itch was scratched nonetheless. See, sometimes it's no good to have such small feet... I didn't bring my ski since I figured my in-laws would be loaded with them. Turns out the one they had wasn't even small enough to grip my ankle so I had really no control of my ski & spent most of the time wrecking since my body & the ski ended up in opposite directions! It was a GREAT time though. The kids loved it, they were ready to jump in right from the get-go. I am glad that they aren't wusses! Todd and I love the water (I requirement I looked for when dating) so it's important that our kids feel the same. Liv is too much of a girly-girl to strap to skis so soon, but I won't be surprised if Gary boy is anxious to give it a try as soon as he can! Good stuff!

Twilight and New Moon

I love, love, LOVE the book Twilight by Stephenie Meyer! I couldn't put it down for a minute, and a totally fell in love with Edward! It is a romantic tale of forbidden love between a vampire and a human. Those of you who don't know I am a total Buffy/Angel fan so this book was totally up my alley! I tell everyone I know to read it & I know I'm not alone since there's over a two year waiting list at the Salt Lake County Libraries for this specific book... they're calling it "the next Harry Potter" since it's so popular. As a side note, it was a book club pick... since I usually try to avoid trends. For once I'm glad I jumped on the band wagon (or was told to) because it is FANTASTIC!

Of course I had high expectations for the second book, New Moon, but was GREATLY DISAPPOINTED! I was going to go off on a whole rant about it, but decided that I'd end up giving away too much about the story. Since I have great hope that the next book, Eclipse coming out August 7th... yay, is going to be fabulous, I think that the book should be read nonetheless (unless the third one is no good, then I will tell everyone to read ONLY Twilight). This is what I will say... I felt like a wasted a lot of time and emotion until the last 100 pages...
