Month of Gratitude - Day 16
Apparently Blogger won't let me upload anymore pictures (hopefully just for the month) - that's NOT what I'm grateful for...
I am grateful for prayer! It is a powerful thing to have an omnipotent source to go to when in need of guidance, comfort, or help. I am also grateful that we learn at such a young age. Watching Suzy learn to pray is so precious! Todd jokes that Suzy is going to grow up thinking it's okay to pray with one eye open since all of us can't help but take a peek at this young child learning how to communicate with her Heavenly Father!

Month of Gratitude - Day 15
I am grateful for Girl Scouts! A year ago my friend, Trisha, and I decided to start a troop, and what a blessing it has been! The troop and organization has provided Liv with an environment to grow in so many ways. She has broken out of her shy shell because of the friends she has made in her troop. She is still quiet but definitely more comfortable to give an opinion. It has also given her the opportunity to try all sorts of new things. She has taken a pottery class, become more comfortable with a camera, learned to play new games, and even made her own pajama pants! I am also grateful that I get to spend this extra time with her... to be able to watch as she grows and participate in events with her! I believe we have become good friends because of our time doing Girl Scout activities together! I am also grateful for the friends that I have made because of Girl Scouts! What a great thing to be a part of!

Month of Gratitude - Day 14
I am grateful for my husband, Todd Young. He is a very hard working man that has righteous goals and loves his family! It is such a joy to watch him play with my kids, he is their best buddy! Thanks for taking such good care of us honey!

Month of Gratitude - Day 13
I am grateful for my little Gary Boy! He is such a thinker, and very unique! He says things all the time that crack me up. Or he'll say something that you can tell he'd been thinking about for a long time. His imagination is always on, which sometimes gets him into trouble, but mostly... it's awesome! The latest example of his creativity: In a math pre-test that was just sent home one of the problems showed a total of seven frogs. Four in the water, three on land. The instructions were to create two subtraction and two addition problems. The idea was: 4+3=7 3+4= 7 7-3= 4 7-4=3. Well Gary did that, except one of his additions was 7-7+7=7! Elaborate, but it's true :)

Month of Gratitude - Day 12
I am grateful for my father-in-law, Gary Young! He loves my kiddos so much! He plays games with them, he teaches them, he entertains them with magic and other silly things. I am grateful for the love he has for others. And I am especially grateful for the example of service he has set. He is always available to help make something, fix something, do a job for you, or make you yummy cookies! He doesn't sit still very often because he is usually busy doing something for someone else. A great example of the influence he's had... him and his neighbor both have long driveways, so every Wednesday nights he drags out his garbages AND his neighbors. While we lived with him and Karlene my would always invite my kids to help him do this. A couple weeks ago Olivia told me that she missed taking the garbages out with Grandpa! Whenever we're around Wednesdays Liv makes it a point to see if Gpa has made the trip yet, if not then she's happy to join him! Thanks, Gary, for setting such a good example for myself and my kids and raising a son (my husband, Todd) who also finds service incredibly important!

Month of Gratitude - Day 11
I am grateful for the sun. I am grateful for the warmth it gives us, especially on a crisp, cool day. But I am even more grateful for the beauty it's rays provide as the sun sets. It's especially gorgeous this time of year as it breaks through the colorful fall leaves!

Month of Gratitude - Day 10
I am grateful to live in southern Utah! Today everyone got excited when it started (barely) snowing for all of two minutes! I got so tired of the snow living in Salt Lake, but now it's such a treat to be in an area where everyone thinks snow is so cool :) I love the beauty here, I love that the weather is so nice most of the time, I even don't mind the 100+ degree weather! I'd much rather be in a pool or at the lake than be bundled under layers of clothing to keep warm.

Month of Gratitude - Day 9
I am grateful for my friends! I have great friends! How neat it is that we don't have to go through life alone. Instead we get to have good people to go along with us... to back us up, to laugh with us, to get us to work out ;), to love us even when we loose our head. I am very blessed with good friends!

Month of Gratitude - Day 8
I am grateful for the quietness that comes at the middle of the night. After the day is all done... the playing with kids, the cleaning, the running of errands... it is such a blessing to lay down at night and just hear silence!

Month of Gratitude - Day 7
I am grateful for my Liv! She is not only my daughter but also my friend! I hope as she grows up that we can continue to grow in our friendship. She is an incredibly kind girl. She is mindful of those around her, and searches to be friends with those that need it! She truly cares about those in her life, and she's grateful for all she has. She is very patient, especially with her brother and sister. I'm grateful to have such an example of strong love in our house. She is truly a blessing to have as a daughter!

Month of Gratitude - Day 6
I am grateful for the right to vote! I know that in Utah my vote doesn't make a big difference, but I vote because of what it means. It is my opportunity to have a voice. I am grateful for the women that fought so that I could have this right. And I am grateful that I live in a country where the people choose their leaders!

Month of Gratitude - Day 5
I am grateful for music! I enjoy all types of music, but I'm especially grateful for music that is spiritual or that I can dance to with my children!

Month of Gratitude - Day 3
I am grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am grateful for the example that he set by living his life through love and service! I am grateful for his sacrifice so that I may not be stuck in my sins, that I can continue to learn and grow. I am grateful that he died so that that we may live again, surrounded by our loved ones for all eternity!

Month of Gratitude - Day 2
I am grateful for "Nature's Candy" (that's what my Gpa Monty calls it, and it's stuck)! For as long as I can remember my Gma Norma has made raspberry jam from her own home grown raspberries! It was a special treat when she shared a jar with us! Then I learned that she'd give me one just if I asked! Then I was asking ALL THE TIME! So I guess she decided it was time I learned myself... what a great gift to give me! I still beg for her home grown raspberries (cause it's just not the same with store bought ones) and now I make my own jam! Anyone that really knows how my kitchen works knows it's a special treat if I share! Next step... get a start from my grandparents so I can grow my own "Gma Norma Raspberries" and continue the tradition!

Month of Gratitude - Day 1
I am grateful for food! I am grateful to be able to feed my family! I am grateful that I learned how to coupon clip and sale shop/price match so that I can buy more food for less!

Suzy's 1st Birthday Party (finally posted)
Since our "Little Lady" was turning one we decided to have a "Ladybug" themed party! It was a quick one, but it was a hit! I crocheted her dress! I'm pretty excited about this since it's not only the first dress I've ever made, but I created the pattern myself! Everything at the party was red, black, and white, incorperating polk dots where ever possible! We started with presents, then did cake and treats. I really don't like cupcakes but it was a busy day so I had to simplify. Plus, I think it's so much easier on the baby to eat a cupcake instead of something larger. For the finale of the party we had a ladybug hunt! It really wasn't that difficult because we let out about 1500 ladybugs (you can buy them for about $7 at a garden nursery) at once, but the kids loved it. They probably loved it because it was so easy! They put their jars into mason jars I had decorated, but I'm pretty sure most of them were let out into gardens once they were home! Happy Birthday little Suzy! I can't believe you're one!
